Sexual Exploitation & Abuse (SEA)
“Help that is not safe to receive is not help. Communities must be able to trust everyone who serves them.”
Objective
To prevent sexual exploitation and abuse by anyone connected to IPI's work, and to make sure every community member can report concerns safely and every survivor receives support that puts their safety and choices first.
Key interventions
- Community awareness sessions, in local languages, on rights and on how to report exploitation or abuse
- Safe, confidential and accessible feedback and complaints channels in every project location
- Codes of conduct, safeguarding training and safer recruitment for all staff, volunteers and partners
- Survivor-centred referral to medical, psychosocial and legal support services
- Active participation in inter-agency SEA prevention networks and the Protection cluster
Expected outcomes
- Communities know their rights and how to report concerns safely
- Every report is handled promptly, confidentially and with the survivor's safety and wishes first
Report sexual exploitation or abuse
IPI has zero tolerance for sexual exploitation and abuse by anyone connected to its work. If you see it, hear about it or suspect it, call one of our SEA investigators. Reports are confidential, and you will not get in trouble for raising a concern.
